According to Kare 11, it was at around 9 p.m. when a Nissan Pathfinder struck a stalled Ford Focus in the left lane on Highway 36 in Lake Elmo, Minn. In that Ford Focus, was 43-year-old Christopher Peterson, and his two children: 10-year-old Mason Peterson, and 5-year-old Morgan Peterson.

Fox 9 reported that Morgan suffered life-threatening injuries while Christopher and Mason both suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Morgan was also the only one in the car wearing a seatbelt. The 47-year-old driver of the Nissan Pathfinder also suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Kare 11 reported that all four people were taken to Regions Hospital following the crash. State patrol said they do not currently know whether alcohol led to the crash.

Christopher's sister set up a GoFundMe to help support the family and give Morgan a proper funeral, per Kare 11. As of Tuesday night, that GoFundMe has reached nearly $23,000 of its $25,000 goal.
